In order to create a sustainable world, we need to change our economy base on the values we want to hold on to. We need to change and to fulfill human rights law, such as addressing the causes of poverty and conflicts in local area, since we want a more sustainable development for developing countries. Also, it is also necessary to educate people about meaningful participation in all aspects of governance. Governments should support local people to engage in planning and monitoring the management for natural resources and environment. We need to stop corruption at any level. Through solid plans and further actions, it is possible for us to create a sustainable world that achieve the goals we want that benefit the global citizens. We should, as a whole, make changes for not only eco-friendly but also a better quality of living for moral and self-interest perspective. Some might be afraid or disagree with changing the economy or politics, yet if all of us look in a bigger picture about what can and should be done, and realize it is possible for us to change since it was us who started.
Reflect on Naomi Klein Argument & Evidences: I. In fact, it’s an opportunity: for policies that improve lives, for lessening economic inequality, for creating jobs and for reinvigorating democracy, all in conjunction with reducing emissions. II. Regulation will get us there. Big public investments will get us there. And a more strategic economy will get us there. In combination. III. But what climate does is it also adds a self-interest to that, where it’s not only that there needs to be more equity between the global north and the global south, it’s that unless we do this, then we can be pretty much guaranteed countries like China and India will continue developing on a path that is going to destabilize the global climate system. So unless we embrace principles of climate equity, we’re all cooked. It’s both moral and it’s self-interested. Klein has a fairly positive attitude toward the message - climate change. She believes that it is the opportunity for us to improve lives, since there are problems of corruption, labor rights violation, and more issues that are connected to climate change. Klein argues that in order to solve the issues, we need to engage in politics. Human rights and other regulations need to be made. She pulled out the historical moment when corrupted politics decided to care money more than environmental regulations - she addressed that it is under stable for them to think it is too idealistic, but it is time for more ideological discussion. It is time for us to set regulations and improve. Klein then pointed out corporations have the role of helping the situation, but more importantly, laws, big public investments, and well-planned economy should help to solve the issues as a whole. She also address about what kind of perspective should we take toward developing countries: principles of climate equity. We should urge developing countries to realize why should we have sustainable style of living. She also emphasizes on her thought toward people who oppose climate change deniers. Instead, she sees the majority: people who recognize yet do not care so much about it. She believes that only people realize their own immediate needs or crises, people will take actions. After all, Klein stated firmly about how movements will lead people to a greater understanding of how the problems are lying in front of us. It is crucial for people to be interested in such topic, even in a self-interested aspect is good. People figured what is wrong and what can be done, then a further step is policies of equity in resources, human rights, and climate. | Discussion of unsustainability: There are several - or at least broader issues of unsustainability that can be discuss. First and foremost is demand for goods, including any kind of resources and products, humans are greedy in having all these advantages. It can be suggests as a result of globalization, however, it is obvious that humans have curiosity, which lead us to change, to improve ourselves, so as on this issue. It is our fate to use globalization as a tool to get through the problems. There are also human rights violations, such as labor rights or quality of living. Developing countries are especially suffering with those issues that lead to health problems and more basic needs. It is crucial to have policies on fair trades and labor rights that we have ability to solve all of them with policies (a more strategic international policies). The lack of public awareness and educations about environment causes land degradation, pollutions, and more damage of the natural environment. Though it is more complex in a way that corporations in the industries are also one of the main reasons. Click On Images To Watch Videos! |
